180° reflection with reversed image

 Pegasus Lasersysteme offers retroreflectors made from  a wide variety of materials. In addition to the standard components made of N-BK7 grade A and UV quartz, variants made of germanium, silicon, ZnSe and CaF2 are also possible.

Four different designs are possible with regards to the angular accuracy.

  • Substrate materials: N-BK7, UV-quartz glass, Si, Ge, ZnSe, CaF2
  • Free aperture: > 85 %
  • Surface quality: 60-40 scratch-dig (40-20 on request)
  • Flatness: lambda/8
  • AR and HR coating on request

Due to three internal reflections inside the retroreflector prism (often referred as CCR), every incoming light beam is reflected back to the origin, regardless of the prism orientation. The image is reversed by 180°.

As the CCR principle also works at large angles of incidence, retroreflectors are ideal for precise measurements over large distances. Depending on the dimensions and requirements, the prism are available in four different angular accuracies.
